You need all the help you can get. That's why God gave us water baptism as a sacrament - an external symbol and statement of a heart conviction that the Holy Spirit is working on the inside of you. A religious spirit has made it a religious exercise, but the Word says it is a declaration of relationship with the Father, that you are awakening to His authority. It represents the termination of the enemy's life in every area of our life and a new walk with the Father through what Jesus Christ did through His death, burial, and resurrection. And God joins anyone that is obedient to His Word!
Other religions have their own version of water baptism, so what makes Christianity's version any different?
What does it really represent?
Many people have been water baptized because it's what they were supposed to do or thought by being baptized it would appease God. That is just more religious thinking.
